In response to the investigation report submitted by the District Magistrate regarding the attempted rape of a female officer in Basti, the government has taken decisive action by suspending Naib Tehsildar Ghanshyam Shukla.

The accused officer, alleged to have not only attempted rape but also tried to take her life, will now be attached to the Divisional Commissioner's office in Kanpur during the suspension period. Divisional Commissioner Lucknow has been appointed to lead the inquiry.

The woman lodged a complaint on November 17, recounting the disturbing incident that occurred on November 12. Manisha Trighatia, Commissioner and Secretary of Revenue Council Section 3, issued the suspension order and named Commissioner Lucknow Division as the investigating officer. The District Magistrate in Basti has been directed to conduct a departmental inquiry and provide a charge sheet within three days.

The three-member team's investigation report, sent by District Magistrate Andra Vamsi on Monday, prompted swift government action. Meanwhile, CJM Ashish Kumar Rai issued a non-bailable warrant for the arrest of Naib Tehsildar, as confirmed by Additional Superintendent of Police Deependra Nath Chaudhary. The victim filed a complaint with the Kotwali police on November 17, making serious allegations against the accused.

Kotwali police are actively investigating the case, with the victim's written statement already submitted in court. Six police teams have been deployed for the arrest, and legal proceedings are underway. The District Magistrate's team, which included PO Duda Sunita Singh, Executive Officer Nagar Panchayat Munderwa Kirti Singh, and Police Area Officer Rudhauli Preeti Kharwar, confirmed a friendly relationship between the accused Naib Tehsildar and the woman officer. Both officers lived alone in their respective residences and had met on the evening of November 12 to wish their superiors a happy Diwali, even visiting a firecracker shop together.
